TODAY IS YOUR LUCKY DAY! We here at Teenage Roblog have come across the official blueprint plans for model XJ9. Although these are top secret and shown only on a "need to know" basis, I figured what the heck, why not put them on the world wide web for any weirdo with a browser to gawk at. Posted by Hello

I noticed that there is no striped down XJ-9 arm. Mind enlightening us on why there is no arm with internal components revealed?

That's really good. I used it do a similiar scematic for my fancharacter XJ-Zero.

I'm still trying to get into the business and it's provin to be very difficult. I've to and from awn.com, but I'd like something close. I live in Florida.

I would really want to actually speak to someone in the art feild.

You guys are the closest I've come. I would appreciate the guidance... and I don't give up easily.

Eventually, unless you end up working for disney, I'd imagine you would have to relocate at some point. At the moment though I think the important thing to do is get the necessary educational credentials; also since more and more animation is either done with computers or computer-assistance, it would probably be a good idea to take courses in that also.

Once you actually have some educational background in animation, I guess the best thing to do would be to look for an internship to get some real-world experience. Like everything else in entertainment it's a very competitive field with a lot of talent trying to make an impression, so this may not be easy, but it's probably the best way to actually get started working on an actual production.

Apart from awn, which I mentioned to you in a prior post on the blog (See Thursday, August 26, 2004 post, "SUPER BRAD!"), there are probably lots of books on how to get into professional animation. Check out your local library; perhaps it can provide more detail or ideas.

Working for Disney is an absolute NO for me. They take total ownership of anything created(by anyone) I can't deal with that.

You say I should get educational background. Are talking about on a college level?

I took art as a special coure for 3 years in Junior High School and then went to the High School of Art and Design for 1 year( becuase we had to move to Florida).

I've pretty much been self-taught ever since. I'm not the best I'll admit, but that's not gonna stop me.

Are there any specific courses I should look into?

Well, I'm not in animation, so I really don't know. It probably depends mostly on what you want to do. I think you'll have to research that at the library or do what you're doing here and ask people who do it for a living.

If you go to http://schools.awn.com/ you can get information about animation schools and what courses they offer. Perhaps you could contact the schools and get some literature from them.

It's fine to have an interest in something, but if you want to do it seriously on a professional level, chances are without a certified training background in it from a recognized educational institution, you'll find that there's a pre-determined limit to your success. It's like wanting to be a computer game programmer in the current market; it's great if you have lots of ideas, but you probably won't get very far if you don't know C++.

Here's the AWN school directory for Florida:

Wow. That is so true.

Thanks for everything. I'll still keep in contact if anything.

Once again, thanks.

Cool blueprints! Did Dr. Wakeman give you permission to plaster her schematics all over the internet, or did you just do it?

Every year my son Dylan and I have been building our Halloween animatronic display. This year we added 12 new figures and my wife had been making the clothes etc. but then I clued in that Halloween Costumes were the ideal solution - ya, ok I'm slow but...This year is really cool because we've done an HP Lovecraft display that I'm sure he'd appreciate but I'm not so sure he'd approve of this - The Necronomicon - Is it just me or is that just plain goofy ? Anyway, everybody is doing their own Haunted House thing now but hey - it's fun and if you've got kids I really suggest you try it yourself if you haven't already. It's a nice change from the usual Christmas Lights routine and a lot of scaaarrry fun. Happy Halloween everybody.

I was just browsing various blogs as I was doing a search on the word halloween, and I just wanted to say that I really like what you've done with your blog, even though it wasn't particularly related to what I searched for. I appreciate your postings, and your blog is a good example of how a blog should be done. I've only just recently started a Posters website - feel free to visit it when you get a chance if you wish. Much success, antonio.
